Each school is provided with around 378 books, one globe and 2 world atlas maps.
The books include, history, science & technology, ancient history, motivational & inspirational books, autobiography of leaders, current affairs, health, environment etc. All the books are chosen specially for the school children from the hub of "Kizhakku Pathipagam". The books for each school library worth around twenty thousand INR is donated to the school on 16th of February 2010 by Mr.Joseph, AIMSINDIA - State Coordinator. Each school is given a register book with entry of all books donated and in the same book, the teachers will maintain the record/register of students who are utilizing the library. Thus we'll have a record of the library usage. All the books were entered in the stock register of the schools also. Joseph had met the students & teachers of the schools and discussed/explained about the importance of reading habits and improving knowledge by making use of this library.
All the teachers warmly welcomed this noble cause of library setup in the rural schools and every teachers applauded for the selection of books (titles) for the children. Many of the titles/books were not even heard by the teachers itself. All the teachers agreed for motivating the children to read and make use of the library effectively. In every school, a separate teacher will be nominated by the HM as in-charge for the library. That particular teacher will monitor the transition of books and will be responsible for the library. We have also planned to conduct competitions based on books donated in the start of the coming academic year to motivate the children to build reading habits by giving prizes to the winners. A local NGO named, Grace Vision Centre who already engaged in rural education development for past years helped AIMSINDIA in identifying this seven schools and supported in every part of execution of this project.
This Library Project is a very good gesture for sure by AIMSINDIA in the part of strengthening rural education.
